Editor Choice
With a variety of modern shoes for tennis to choose from, there exist several points to consider before purchasing – foot size, type of the court, personal play style, individual preferences in terms of material and color. It is highly recommended to overlook all of these factors before making the final decision. On the whole, the great variant for the successful game on the court will be the shoes by Nike – very comfortable breathable shoes with a wide range of colors and sizes. But taking into account some physical peculiarities, such as wide or narrow feet, bunions and others, one may be willing to choose other models by the aforesaid brands.
Buyer’s Guide – How to choose the right tennis shoes?
Sneakers for practicing tennis must have a height to the ankle and have an average weight. Shoes should be well tolerated by a variety of jerky movements that are characteristic of big tennis, keep your feet and protect them from dislocations and sprains. The running shoes have a dense and flexible toe part of the sole with a small protector in the form of strokes and zigzags. This feature of the tread allows you to avoid slip and achieve the necessary stability and amortization on the court.
For the right choice of tennis sneakers it is necessary to consider the following factors:
- Covering the court;
- The structure of his foot;
- Season;
- The features of the brand.
You need to determine what kind of tennis shoes you need, depending on the type of foot:
- Supinated – your foot mostly comes on the outside of the shoe;
- Pronated – your foot mostly comes on the inside of the shoe and this type of foot has the worst protection from injuries;
- Ideal-step in the middle.
But how to know which type of foot do you have? It is very simple. Wet your foot and step on a piece of paper. If the footprint is printed more from the outside, then the type of the foot is supinated. If the footprint is left more on the inside and looks like a rectangle with a small curve, then the feet are overpronated. If the trace remains the same on all sides, then this is the third type.
Choosing the right tennis shoes pay attention to the details, if to be more exact, have a closer look at each part of the shoe.
Sole
All soles of the sneakers, designed for tennis, are made of a rubber compound that has special properties of durability and flexibility. By the color of the sole, you can easily find out the texture and density of rubber. The sole with zigzags indicates that such shoes are designed for classes on the court and have the smallest slip on the surface.
Lacing
Do not give preference to Velcro. The latch-shaped lacing will not compress the blood vessels, so the feet will not become numb, and you will feel comfortable throughout the game.
The outer side of the shoe
Typically, this part of the sneakers is made of leather or synthetic materials of a very high quality. Quite often it is decorated with a variety of inserts, which significantly reduces the weight of the shoes.
The inside part of sneakers
It should have a soft insert that protects the shin and feet from shocks and injuries, which are possible on the courts with an abundance of sudden movements. Such a specific insert is located between the foot and the heel.
Insole
It is designed to mitigate the impact of the foot on the surface of the playground. It mainly consists of PU or EVA gels. The thickness of the insole can be different, except that it can vary from heel to toe and vice versa.
Toe
The toe should have a special finger protection system, mainly made of breathable and maximally lightweight materials.
Counter
As a rule, the counter should have a curved shape, so that the heel is always protected from impacts against the court, as it does not fall down in sudden movements.

I just recently bought my first pair of Asics tennis shoes and loved them. They are one of many I’ve been buying. But this pair is the best among other. My shoes are peach/white. They are super light and comfortable. No break in was needed.
I play tennis only with Prince. I have tried other brands, but came back to Prince. I have some foot problems, but only with these shoes I haven’t discomfort.
I only wear Nike tennis shoes and this model is the best! Very very comfortable shoes. They are medium width and run narrow which is perfect for me.
Asics is the best. I always buy only their shoes. I have no comments. They are perfect. Specifically this model I wear like everyday footwear. Good support and cushioning system. I love them!!!
Puma my everyday sneakers. The most versatile and stylish. To say that I adore them is to say nothing! They are perfect for my style !!!
